That is a good question, however not one with an easy answer. The amount of wood you will need for your Burnrite outdoor wood stove will depend on many factors, including the size of your home, the quality of the wood (hard woods burn longer and slower than soft, for example), climate, desired temperature, and level of insulation, just to start. The load on the system (how many places you are heating off one furnace), layout of the buildings (heating one big room is actually easier than many separated by walls, for example), and if the wood is properly seasoned can also impact the volume of wood needed for the winter season.
Properly seasoned wood has had the chance to dry for no less than 6 months, and a year or more is ideal. You will ideally want wood with a moisture content of less than 20%.
Our friendly Burnrite dealers and installers will be able to help you estimate your wood needs both before and after installation.
