On September 20, 2009 four-hundred fifty people from the Central Michigan area came together for the Rent the Track event, sponsored by Burnrite Stoves. The event, held at the Mid-Michigan MotorPlex was blessed by fine weather and a good turnout.
Local radio station WUPS 98.5 FM covered the event with a live truck as well.
The gates opened early at 9 am, and within an hour motorists were racing down the track. In addition to the cars there were snowmobiles, diesel trucks and even an actual drag car. A total of 65 racers took part in the event. The elimination rounds were full of action, with a few quick cars doing the quarter mile in under 9 seconds at over 160mph. Several trophies were handed out at the winner's circle, the results of which should be posted on Rent the Track.com soon.
